Sam’s Club, which operates 655 membership warehouse stores in 47 U.S. states and Puerto Rico as of September 2016, announced the launch of its Scan & Go mobile app just in time for the much-anticipated Black Friday 2016.

This free app — which you can get on iOS’ App Store and Google Play — allows club members to use their mobile smartphone to completely bypass the checkout lane at any Sam’s Club retail warehouse nationwide.

The Scan & Go app simply allows Sam’s Club members to scan as they go, pay from their mobile phone, then simply show a digital receipt as they leave the physical store.

The app also allows Sam’s Club customers to track their spending as they shop. The feature is being introduced in time for biggest holiday shopping event of the year — Black Friday — but will be a permanent way of checking out.

“We understand the holidays can create a major time crunch for our members, so we’re using technology to ease the stress of holiday shopping,” Rosalind Brewer, President and CEO of Sam’s Club, said in the company’s announcement.

To get started, Android and iPhone users can get Sam’s Club Scan & Go app, which includes a digital version of their club membership card. Once inside the local Sam’s Club location, members can use the app to scan UPC codes on the items in their cart. When a member is done shopping, they pay directly from their phone from anywhere in the club, bypass the register and show their digital copy of the receipt to an associate on their way out of the facility. — Cetureon.com
