Berjaya PH officially launches Mazda CX-3 Pro, Sport and AWD Activ in the Philippine market

Mazda CX-3 AWD Activ is available at P1,480,000; the CX-3 Sport pegged at P1,380,000; and the base model CX-3 Pro costs P1,280,000.

As Berjaya Philippines or Mazda PH promised, the exclusive local distributor of Mazda cars in the country will indeed be releasing their B-segment crossover vehicle very soon. The Japanese automaker recently said that they will be launching the CX-3 at this year’s Philippine International Motor Show.

The Mazda CX-3 was first unveiled at the 2014 Los Angeles Motor Show. The CX-3 was Mazda’s fifth model to adapt Kodo – Soul of Motion design language. The exterior of the Mazda CX-3 borrows the design from its bigger sibling CX-5 while still incorporating its truly identifiable unique features.

Engine

Mazda Philippines said that it will be releasing three (3) variants — Pro, Sports and Activ — of the CX-3. All three versions will equipped a 1,998cc in-line-four Skyactiv-G gasoline engine rated at 146hp (at 6,000rpm) and 192Nm (at 2,800rpm). Moreover, all variants are also packs with a six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission, along with the i-Stop automatic stop-start technology.

Exterior

The CX-3 measures 4,275mm in length, 1,765mm in width and 1,535mm in height — which falls in the subcompact crossover segment currently occupied with the likes of Ford EcoSport, Chevrolet Trax, the Honda HR-V and the Nissan Juke. The CX-3 also has a wheelbase of 2,570mm, a ground clearance of 155mm, and a minimum turning point of 5,300mm.

The top of the line all-wheel-drive (AWD) Activ has Mazda’s i-Activ all-wheel drive system, while the Sport and the Pro are both front-wheel-driven. As for the wheels, the AWD Activ and the Sport variants will have an 18-inch alloy ones (gun metallic with machine finish, with 215/50 tires), while the base model CX-3 Pro features a 16-inch alloy rollers (silver, with 215/60 tires).

Moreover, the Activ and the Sport comes with an LED headlamps with daytime running lights, while the Pro got halogen headlamps; automatic-folding side mirrors; and LED rear combination lamps. With all have standard front fog lamps, shark’s fin antenna, and dual exhaust pipes with finisher.

Interior

As for the interior, the AWD Activ and the Sport boats leather seats with suede inserts, while the Pro version will have fabric seats; red interior accents. The Activ and Sport also equipped with analog tachometer and digital speedometer, and the Pro digital speedometer tachometer, with all go heads-up display. Both the top of the line and mid-range model will have an automatic single-zone climate control, while the Pro got manual version. Meanwhile, the AWD Activ model has a Bose audio system and a DVD player, while the Sport and Pro have CD player.

All three variants will have the standard push start/stop button like the other Mazda vehicles; leather steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls; paddle shifters; leather shift knob; also a seven-inch touchscreen LCD monitor with MP3, auxiliary, USB and Bluetooth functionality; command controller for the entertainment system; Bluetooth hands-free system; power windows; 12V power outlet; and a GPS navigation system.

Safety & Security

As for safety and security, while the Pro has driver and passenger airbags, the AWD Activ and the Sport also have those and curtain airbags. The CX-3 Pro, Sport and AWD Activ are equipped with ABS, stability control, immobilizer, and a backing-up rear-view camera. But the top of the line will have and additional features including smart keyless entry system and rear parking sensors.

You may wonder why the CX-3 costs more than what we expect, it should be worth noting that all the units are imported from Japan, and these three units do not benefit from any tax exemption of the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA) since all CX-3 variants are powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine. And only Japan-imported vehicles with an engine displacement of 3.0 liters and above are covered by the tax free benefit of the JPEPA.
