The Land Transportation Office (LTO) said it will start issuing non- and professional driver’s license and conductor’s license with a validity of five years on October 7.
The LTO 7 Acting Director Alita Pulga stated that this would be based on the Land Transportation Office’s Administrative Order 2016-034 issued by Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante last September 13.
The order, “Rules and Regulations Providing for a Five-Year Validity of Driver’s Licenses and Conductor’s Licenses,” was approved by the Department of Transportation and Communications Secretary (DOTC) Arthur P. Tugade.
The driver’s and conductor’s license with five-year validity was an offshoot to the order of the Philippine President Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte to maximize its validity period from three years to five years.
The five-year driver’s license is one of the programs spelled out by President Rodrigo Duterte during his first State of the Nation Address as well as in his platform when we was running the presidency earlier this year. The current driver’s license only has three years maximum validity.
“October 8 is the effectivity star date of the new license. That is 15 days from date of publication and initial implementation at the National Capital Region (NCR) on November 8,” Pulga noted.
Pulga also stressed out the nationwide implementation of the issuance of licenses is scheduled on November 8.
“By then, all system adjustment will be completed nationwide,” per Pulga.
The applicants for the new license shall pay P100 for the application fee and P67.63 for computer fee; and P585 fee for license card itself, and another P67.63 for the computer fee.
As for the renewal of licenses, the applicant must shell out a total of 652.63 pesos (P585 for license fee and P67.63 for computer fee).
In case a new driver’s and conductor’s license cards are unavailable, the old and expired license cards must remain in the possession of the licensee, which shall be valid until the issuance of the license new card. The validity period of the five-years license is indicated in the official receipt.
