‘Designing Women’ Reboot in the Works at Sony

‘Designing Women’ Reboot in the Works at Sony
Sony has yet another reboot in the works. The television studio is developing an update of the ’90s sitcom “Designing Women,” according to TVLine.

The show’s original creator, Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, is attached to lead the reboot.

Designing Women” ran for seven seasons on CBS, before concluding on May 24, 1993, sharing a night with “Murphy Brown.” You know, that other classic comedy about to return to the network.

The series centers around the fictional design firm Sugarbaker and Associates, a witty bully pulpit for caustic social and political humor. The founder of the company is Julia Sugarbaker (Dixie Carter), a sharp-tongued but elegant and surprisingly compassionate woman. Her younger sister, Suzanne (Delta Burke), is a former beauty queen who is long on charm but a bit slow on the uptake. Their associates are Mary Jo Shively (Annie Potts), a recent divorcee,

Joel Kinnaman, Sarah Jones & Michael Dorman To Star In Ron Moore’s Apple Space Series

Joel Kinnaman, Sarah Jones & Michael Dorman To Star In Ron Moore’s Apple Space Series
Exclusive: Former The Killing and Altered Carbon star Joel Kinnaman, Patriot star Michael Dorman and Damnation co-star Sarah Jones have been tapped as the leads in Apple’s upcoming space drama series from Battlestar Galactica‘s and Outlander‘s Ronald D. Moore.

Dorman has played the lead on the Amazon Studios’ quirky genre-bending spy drama series Patriot whose second season was ordered 16 months ago but is yet to air. Because of the delay, Dorman was able to book a new series. I hear Amazon will likely not make a formal renewal decision on Patriot until Season 2 is released and should they opt to do another season, they will have to work around Dorman’s schedule on the Apple series.

Kinnamon, who played the lead, Takeshi Kovacs, on the first season of Netflix’s Altered Carbon, was recently tapped to star on the upcoming Amazon drama series Hanna in what is currently a one-year deal.

Hulu has renewed “Castle Rock” for a second season.

The anthology drama will return with a “wholly original” story in its second year, the streamer’s senior vice president and head of content Craig Erwich tells Variety.

“It was a deeply original idea from two of the world’s greatest storytellers, and it was centered around something that’s been beloved and familiar to many of Stephen King’s legion of fans, which is the town of Castle Rock. So expectations were high to begin with, but it exceeded them,” he says. “The reaction from the variety of audiences has

‘Southern Charm’s Thomas Ravenel Exits Show Following Sexual Misconduct Allegations – Report
Southern Charm star Thomas Ravenel says he has left the Bravo reality series, according to E!. Ravenel’s reported departure comes three months after the show’s production company and Bravo said they were investigating Ravenel following allegations of sexual misconduct made against him.

Ravenel also was not present for the Southern Charm season 5 reunion, which taped in June and aired last month, due to the investigation into the claims against him, according to E!

‘Conan’ Cuts Music Performances; Booker Roey Hershkovitz to Exit (Exclusive)

‘Conan’ Cuts Music Performances; Booker Roey Hershkovitz to Exit (Exclusive)
With “Conan” set to switch to a half-hour format beginning in January 2019, the TBS show is doing away with regular musical performances to focus more on comedy and what host Conan O’Brien calls a “leaner” late-night program.

With that change, producer and music booker Roey Hershkovitz will depart the show, leaving the door open for consulting work on the occasional special music episode and potential music content to appear on TeamCoco.com’s digital platforms.

Hershkovitz has been with the “Conan” franchise for nearly 20 years. Beginning as an intern in 1999, he was hired as music coordinator at NBC’s “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” in May 2000 and moved with the show to TBS in 2010. Hershkovitz, who has also co-produced episodes of NBC’s “The Office,” was elevated to Music Booker in 2017 after “Conan” veteran Jim Pitt left for ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Recent music bookings on “Conan” include Neko Case,

Ariana Grande And James Corden Celebrate ‘Titanic’ With Fast-Paced Musical Medley

James Corden is continuing his affinity for late-night singing fun with his homage to Titanic. In under six minutes, he and pop star Ariana Grande belted out 13 songs to tell the classic love story of Jack and Rose. Dressed in early 20th century, old-timey garb, you would expect the duo to sing some Titanic-esque songs, but instead, they sang a mix of contemporary tunes and classics. They started with some good ol’ fashioned yacht rock with Styx’s “Come Sail Away” and…

Younger Recap: How Perfect Was [Spoiler]'s Reaction to Liza's Secret?

Younger Recap: How Perfect Was [Spoiler]'s Reaction to Liza's Secret?
More people should react to Liza’s big secret the way Caitlin did on Tuesday’s episode of Younger.

After learning that her daughter got her heart broken by an older boyfriend (aka her former teacher!) who had to keep their relationship a secret, Liza decided to share a similar anecdote from her current relationship with Charles. Unfortunately, this story required context, which meant that Liza had to come clean about her double life as a 27-year-old — and Caitlin’s response was incredible.

“You’re messing with me,” she said, fighting to hold back her laughter. When it became clear that Liza was,

Are We Ever Going to See a “Kraven the Hunter” Movie?

It seems exciting to think that we could be getting a Kraven the Hunter movie eventually but the downside is that it doesn’t appear that he’ll be linked to Spider-Man, which is kind of like saying you’ll be having a plain peanut butter sandwich when you were so looking forward to a Pb&J. To better explain, Sergei Kravinoff is one of the most terrifying villains that has ever stood in the path of the web-slinging hero and aside from being, more or less, a regular human that has taken measures to enhance his senses and stave off the aging process,

Animal Kingdom Recap: Death Wish — Plus, [Spoiler] Swims With the Fishes
Warning: The following contains spoilers for Tuesday’s (trust me on this) wholly unpredictable Animal Kingdom.

After last week’s Animal Kingdom confirmed for Pope that it had been Smurf who’d had Baz rubbed out, it probably didn’t come as any surprise to viewers that in Tuesday’s episode, Andrew was plotting matricide. But what probably did knock you off your couch — it did me, anyway! — was the fact that Janine ended “Homecoming” with a pulse, and someone else entirely was given, in essence, a burial at sea. Who took a swim from which they’d never return?
