The Denver Broncos were originally one of the former Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Tony Romo’s front-running suitors. But since the 36-year-old quarterback Tony is retiring, the Denver Broncos left no options on acquiring him but to heavily rely on Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch.
The two young quarterbacks are expected to compete for the starting jib for the 2017 National Football League (NFL) season, and despite his inexperience, Siemian played quite well in the most recent season and a numerous people believe he’s the favorite to win the No. 1 string quarterback. However, the Denver Broncos are also considering landing in a third quarterback to compete with the main backup quarterback.
“We’ve got two quarterbacks in our building that are going to be 1 and 2,” Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph said. “We have to add a third in some capacity. Now, could that third outplay our 1 and 2? if he’s that good, absolutely. But right now, we have a 1 and 2 in our building,” he continued.”
Will the Denver Broncos acquire a veteran quarterback? Or will they land one from this year’s draft class?
During an interview at the American Football Conference (AFC) head coaches breakfast last week, the Joseph said bringing in a veteran to play behind the shadows og Siemian and Lynch makes is nonsensical. So, quarterbacks with the likes of Ryan Fitzpatrick and Shaun Hill should no longer be an options for the Denver Broncos.
“It could be a young veteran. But I wouldn’t perceive it being an older veteran. If it’s a veteran, it would be a young veteran. I wouldn’t discount drafting a young quarterback out of the draft next month. That’s possible,” Joseph said.
Well, there are still a nmber of younger veterans in the free agency market like Robert Griffin III, Blaine Gabbert, T.J. Yates and Colin Kaepernick, so the Denver Broncos can ultimately select their pick.
Meanwhile, as for acquiring a quarterback in the 2017 NFL Draft, the North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky, Clemson’s Deshaun Watson, Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes II, Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer as well as University of California and Berkeley’s Davis Webb are the top quarterbacks available in the class.
