NFL rumors suggests that the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Washington Redskins might have given Stanford University running back and return specialist Christian McCaffrey a “draft guarantee”. Although there were no professional American football franchises was certainly mentioned in the NFL rumors, the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Washington Redskins are widely known to be interested in selecting the Cardinal junior in the impeding 2017 NFL Draft.
The latest mock drafts pointed to McCaffrey could be acquired by the Carolina Panthers as the eight overall pick in the first day of 2017 NF Draft. One of the main rationales is because of the club’s newly-re-hired assistant coach Lance Murphy, who is the running back’s coach at Stanford University for the past three years. Murphy is said to be keen on bringing his former talent with him in Carolina Panthers.
The guys at SB Nation reported that should the Carolina Panthers opt to let McCaffrey pass at No. 8 overall draft selection, an unnamed organization is “currently picking in the teens” has guaranteed the Castle Rock, Colorado native that they will draft him. Some of the teams that could land Christian McCaffrey are the New Orleans Saints (No. 11), Indianapolis Colts (No. 15), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 19).
However, as per Chat Sports reports, the three organizations most likely to acquire the 5-foot-11, 202-pound rusher are the Philadelphia Eagles who currently hold the No. 14 overall draft pick, the Baltimore Ravens with No. 16, and the Washington Redskins at 17th position as they are the clubs in current need of a young weapon at running back position. The report added that the three team are also the ones that have “expressed massive interest in McCaffrey throughout the pre-draft process”.
The 20-year-old Christian McCaffrey is considered as one of the top two running back prospects alongside Louisiana State University’s Leonard Fournette in this year’s draft class. During his sophomore season at Stanford, McCaffrey broke the NCAA record for all-around yards with 3,864 (2,019 rushing, 645 receiving, and 1,070 on kickoff returns).
The Denver Broncos, who possess the 20th overall pick for the 2017 NFL Draft, is another squad interested in landing the running back McCaffrey. There are NFL rumors that the Denver Broncos are planning to trade up to have a massive chance to acquire the young core running back.
The 2017 NFL Draft will be the 82nd annual meeting of National Football League franchises to land newly eligible American football players. It is scheduled to be held April 27–29 in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art at Eakins Oval.
