The Philadelphia Eagles are amongst the professional American football teams with their owner’s permission to select running back Joe Mixon in the 2017 NFL Draft, per NBC’s Josh Norris.

“I’ve heard the [New Orleans] Saints, I’ve heard the {Minnesota] Vikings have done a ton of homework, pro days and a visit as well, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Oakland Raiders. There might be a few more here and there. He might be on a secondary board for the Dallas Cowboys, not necessarily on their top board, so if he slides a little bit. And I think that that is … other teams will have that similar conversation.

But if I were to peg a few that are interested the most, the Bengals, absolutely, early I think at like pick No. 41 in the second round and the Philadelphia Eagles in round two as well.”

So not only does the report peg the Philadelphia Eagles as one of five organizations with permission, but Norris also mentions they’re one of the teams most interested in him from that group.

The Philadelphia Eagles did not seem to rule out picking running back Mixon (unlike how some other teams did) when asked regarding him at the National Football League (NFL) franchise owners meetings last month.

From a professional football standpoint, the Oklahoma product Mixon fits the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense. Not only is the running back a talented runner but Mixon can also catch the ball. The Philly has a pretty huge need for a three-down pro-player in the backfield. The Eagles might feel Mixon is worth the risk for the franchise. But some believe he’s the best running back in this year’s draft class. And the Philadelphia Eagles showed they weren’t hesitant to take that opportunity on some prospect players with character concerns in last year’s draft process.

Not everyone is so convinced that the Philadelphia Eagles are interested on the 20-year-old running back, though. Earlier this month, Howard Eskin said he got the sense that Eagles won’t be landing him on 2017 NFL Draft.

The Philadelphia might want organizations to believe they’re not interested in Mixon so there’s a quite better opportunity he come down to them. Or perhaps the Eagles itself want to make it seem like they were never interested in him if another franchise takes him before they do.

It is indeed interesting to watch where Mixon ends up and when he comes off the board in the 2017 NFL Draft that will take place by the end of April. A league source noted that general managers and scouts believe Mixon will be a second-rounder pick. If that’s the case, the Philly might have to land him at No. 43 overall should he’s still on the consideration and team want to get him.

With the three-day 2017 NFL Draft event only a week away, we will be seeing soon enough where team the running back Joe Mixon ends up.
