The University of the Philippines (UP) will be hopeful as they tries to become the third team to make it to the semifinals. The UP will take on the defending champions National University (NU) today in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

A win in their 4 PM contesr will send the UP Lady Maroons in the company of the NU Lady Bulldogs and the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws in the next stage of the league. But a UP loss will create complications.

The University of the Philippines are in third place at 2-1 winning streak, followed by San Sebastian (2-2) and Ateneo De Manila University (1-2), which is scheduled to take on University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the second contest at 6 PM.

Bea De Leon, Michelle Morente and Jia Morado will resume leading ADMU against the young but ever energetic UST squad composed of high school standout Eya Laure and Ria Meneses.

A UP loss coupled with an ADMU victory would forge a three-way logjam for third to fifth, and it will make an exciting race for the last two semis seats.

UP is widely expected to finish the game with a win after beating the Ateneo last Saturday at The Arena in San Juan City. Kathy Bersola, Issa Molde, and Marian Buitre managed to combine a 33 points in that victory, although the UP coach Jerry Yee expects his squad to face another tough nemesis – NU.

The National University boasts of the deadly duo of Jaja Santiago and Jasmine Nabor, and the team have also never been defeated in the quarters, and only dropped two sets combined in their wins against UST and FEU. The Ateneo secured the first semis seat with a sweep of their first four matches while the Lady Maroons, tied with UST Tigers at second place.

Both games will be televised live at ABS-CBN Sports + Action Channel 23 and via online streaming on www.sports.abs-cbn.com.
